Updated visitor arrangements for MDH, including Buckland House and Bindaree.
In response to new restrictions pertaining to Victorian hospitals and aged care facilities, we have amended visiting criteria for Mansfield District Hospital. These are in accordance with directives of the Deputy Public Health Commander
All visitors and staff entering any MDH building must have their temperature taken before entering. If a visitor or staff member’s temperature is higher than 37.5 degrees or they are showing symptoms of acute respiratory infection they will not be permitted to enter MDH or its residential aged care facilities.
All persons entering will also be asked screening questions related to recent travel and if they have been in contact with a person who has been diagnosed with COVID-19. All visitors entering the facility are required to wear a face mask which we provide on entry.
HOSPITAL:
All non-essential visits to Mansfield District Hospital are not permitted.These restrictions are in place to ensure the safety of our patients, staff and your loved ones. We appreciate this may cause anxiety and challenges in some circumstances and we apologise in advance should this be the case.
Visiting hours are from 12.00-6.30pm
There are new restrictions on visiting which must be adhered to.These restrictions place time limits on and the number of people who can visit patients at MDH each 24-hour period beginning at midnight as detailed below:
• Children in hospital may have their parent(s)/carer(s) visit but this is restricted to one visitor at any one time.
• Patients over the age of 18 may have one visitor for a maximum of one hour as long as the person’s presence at the hospital is for emotional and social support that cannot be provided by non-contact means.
• Patients may receive visitors for the purposes of providing essential care to support the patient’s immediate wellbeing that optimises the care and support delivered by the hospital, this is restricted to one visitor at any one time for as short a duration as possible.
• Patients requiring interpreter support are limited to one visitor at any one time to support them with this function for as short a duration as possible.
• Pregnant patients in the maternity ward in labour may have one visitor at any one time this being the patient’s partner or support person only.
• Patients in the maternity ward are restricted to one visitor per day for a maximum duration of two hours this being the patient’s partner or support person only.
• Patients attending the emergency department are allowed to be accompanied by one person for a maximum of one hour.• Patients attending outpatient appointments are allowed to be accompanied by one person for a maximum of one hour.
• Patients who require end-of-life support may have two visitors at any one time.
• Patients whose medical condition is life threatening may have two visitors at any one time as long as they are an immediate family member of the patient.
• Mental Health clients/consumers may have a nominated person visit them but are restricted to one visitor at any one time for a maximum duration of one hour.
• For patients who are being discharged that require further care, a care and support person may visit with the objective of learning support techniques with the restriction of one visitor, for a maximum of one hour. As outlined above, except in situation such as end-of-life care or life-threatening situations patients are allowed no more than one visitor at any one time.
BUCKLAND HOUSE & BINDAREE:
In summary, one visitor for up to one hour per day.
A person may visit a resident at a care facility if:
• In the case of a resident of a facility aged 18 years or over—the person is the parent, guardian, partner, carer or support person of the resident, and the person’s visit is for the purpose of providing emotional and social support to the resident that cannot be provided by that person via electronic or other non-contact means; Limit: only 1 visitor, once per day, for a maximum of 1 hour.
• The person’s presence at the facility is for the purposes of providing essential care and support necessary for the resident’s immediate physical wellbeing that optimises the care and support delivered by workers at the facility and cannot be provided by that person via electronic means; Limit: only 1 visitor at any one time. Example: providing ongoing support, assistance or personal care to a resident with activities of daily living such as showering, dressing, or meals.
• The person’s presence at the facility is for the purposes of providing essential care and support necessary for the resident’s immediate emotional and social wellbeing (including mental health supports) that optimises the care and support delivered by workers at the facility and cannot be provided by that person via electronic means; Limit: only 1 visitor at any one time. Example: the person’s physical presence is necessary to support individual behaviours of concern, such as for people living with dementia or who have a known or emerging serious mental illness.
• The person’s presence at the facility is for the purposes of providing end of life support to a resident of the facility; Limit: maximum of 2 visitors at any one time.
